Project Purpose

| ||||
The project’s purpose is to publish a reference guide for code lists and identifiers for the Garment and Leather sector, which can be used for information entities residing in the textile and leather data model. The code lists and identifiers can be internal (developed and published by UNECE/UNCEFACT or external (developed and published by other standards developing organizations. |
Project Scope

---|---|---|---|---|
| ||||
Codes and identifiers are essential components of any Machine-To-Machine information flow. They have been developed over time to facilitate the flow of standardized data that can be easily validated for correctness to ensure consistent semantics (e.g., plain text versus coded text). The scope of the project is to identify relevant code lists and identifiers and not to identify any missing code values. For internal code lists and values the existing procedures for requesting codes, published by UN/CEFACT or by other standard development organizations must be followed. The proposed project is, therefore, to develop a reference guide with the following objectives: • The scope of the project is international garment and footwear industry, cross-border and domestic. • References will be included for pointing to the actual code lists and their values rather than including directly in the guidance document for maintenance reasons? • Development of a reference guide which provides most important codes and identifiers, publicly available, including a linkage to the information entities in the textile and leather data model for which they can be used. The reference document may include reference to glossaries, if available, which provide a definition of terms used in code values. |
