The current, complete Cross-Indus= try Invoice (CII) covers all supply chain operations and takes into conside= ration all potential complexities of any industry. The deliverable also acc= ommodates any mode of transport. The resulting deliverable is rather = large and complex and can deter some companies =E2=80=93 notably MSMEs =E2= =80=93 from picking up the standard.
This project aims to develop a subset of the CII that will be functional= for a majority of operations and compatible with regulatory requirements i= n a majority of countries. This would strip away the industry-specific elem= ents and produce a generic invoice that could be used as a basis for intern= ational trade operations. It is hoped that this lighter subset would be eas= ier for organizations to implement and exchange with others. It would be su= ggested that any extensions to cover industry-specific elements either use = directly the complete CII or they make extensions solely based on the CII.<= /p>
This project aims to develop a subset of the CII as a generic invo= ice that would be used as a simplified basis for international trade operat= ions.It is expected that this subset will also make subsets of the related = code lists.
It is expected that there will be no additions to the CII as a res= ult of this project; the objective is to make a subset of the existing CII.= The resulting artefacts will be based on the existing CII BRS.
Based on this work, further =E2=80=9Clight=E2=80=9D versions of the othe= r cross industry family of deliverables may be proposed as future projects.=
Deliverable 1: Technical artefacts of a CII Light
Deliverable 2: Training material on the implementation of the CII
The exit criteria will be:

The following contributions are submitted as part of this proposal. It i= s understood that these contributions are only for consideration by the Pro= ject Team and that other participants may submit additional contributions i= n order to ensure that as much information as possible is obtained from tho= se with expertise and a material interest in the project. It is also = understood that the Project Team may choose to adopt one or more of these c= ontributions =E2=80=9Cas is=E2=80=9D.
Participants in the project shall provide resources for their own partic= ipation. The existence and functioning of the project shall not require any= additional resources from the UNECE secretariat.
